Basic road template

Roads are obviously one of the most important things in Renegade, and as such, consistency is preferable. That being said, here's a nice template to guide you through the creation process (but please make sure you have the rights to build roads - don't just make them everywhere for the fun of it).

As you can see here, the road is a very simple thing. Although blocks of buildings can become a little complicated, roads always remain the same - two blocks of polished andesite on either side as a sidewalk, and 5 blocks across of black stained clay. Running down the center, in pairs, are redstone lamps that are powered by redstone blocks underneath them. Since nobody really cares about the undersides of the street, feel free to just put them under the lamps and call it a day.

At intersections, the redstone lamps stop one block before the crosswalks. These consist of three pairs of yellow stained clay going across the road.

Street lights appear on every corner, and are fashioned in a counter-clockwise motion. This means the light itself is only a block out from the nether fence post. These are 5 tall, then one next to it before putting two gold blocks. On these are two item frames. Put a lime stained glass pane in the top, a red stained glass pane in the bottom, and rotate both once. As for street signs, they are found 3 blocks up the pole in the center and are bordered with equal signs. The name of the road is the second from the top, and the type of road is second from the bottom. Remember to check you're putting down the right names, and if you are making a new road make sure you have a pre-approved name.

Once you think you've finished, make sure you've got everything! Most things people miss is the torches on the back (and never the sides) to light up the front, and also a light weighted pressure plate to top it all off. Having all these marks shows for a builder who can really follow directions!

Following this guide and the pictures, you're sure to knock this one outta the park. Remember that some areas may have different roads that others, such as a different sidewalk type or different road material, so always check your surroundings before building. If you still have a question, be sure to speak up to whoever else is online - you're sure to find help.

In this thread, talk about good ol' roads. And no, I swear to god we can't change this template unless we're changing every other single road we've made. Unless your new template blows my dick off, this is your basic rundown. However, don't be shy to suggest using perhaps brick road in certain parts of Renegade for a chic feeling, or maybe cobble for olden parts. Just post those kinds of suggestions here instead of whole new threads, so to not crowd up the board too much.
